I'm thinking of adding some colour to the garden and using the crocuses and primulas etc Tesco are giving away, but as it is still quite icy I'm wondering if it is a good time? I will probably leave til Mon but do it anyway that morning. The plants, I assume will be on their last legs now which is why the shop is selling them off, so what have I got to lose? Also, they are selling daffs which are already beginning to sprout. Is it worth trying to plant these also?

All these, planted "late", will be suffering and will fairly quickly be over their best. They will, most probably, look good next year, so fine for a longer-term project, and to save some money :blue thumb:, but probably not going to give you much in terms of colour for a few weeks ahead.

I have some things in pots, round-the-back, and bring them into prime view when they are at their best. They can fill in gaps where things have not done too well, to replacement "Inners" for the main containers we have in front of the house.
