I'd give it a go Julie, or clean the ground off & then cover it with some carpet so its ready to go in the spring.

Thanks Ziggy, having spent some time there at the weekend, (we haven't moved in yet) I'm thinking maybe I should concentrate on clearing as much as possible and start planting in spring. We have enough to do indoors to make the place habitable, without getting too involved outside yet! (Just seen your link - I am off to do a lime plastering course this winter to tackle inside!!)

Sorry, I missed that one Julie, did you do the course yet ?

Just dug the Charlottes up, didn't bother before as the blight wiped the tops out before they really got going, but this was the result.

Mmmm, they look delish! Should go well with those mixed salad leaves...

Did you plant them in containers of compost? Just I notice the bag of compost in the photo :what:
(though with that logic... you also fed them on petrol :heehee: )

:D:loll: No Luke, they were grown in the open plot.

I'll plant Charlottes again this august, but i'll spray against late blight this time. Its a usefull time of year to be digging spuds, the maincrop is dwindling now & the first earlies are still chitting.
