Hi, i've just completed a decking area and have cut out an area to place a tree. I am looking for something no higher than about 2 metres. Can someone give me any ideas for a tree on a decking area.
I also need advice on plants for trellis. I'm placing trellis on top of my fence and need to know what I can put onto it.
    Many thanks.

Magnolia Stellata is always a favourite, free flowering and OK in a container, also Japanese maples. no flowers but lovely foliage.
For the trellis, look at climbing roses, honeysuckle, clematis, akebia quinensis, and for evergreen interest, Jasmine, Clematis Armandii, Cirrhosa, or of course Ivies. You can mix them so that you have flower, scent, and leaf interest all year round.
    Have fun!

Magnolias are nice trees to have by decking. I have a magnoilia called susan. Also standard catalpas are good. There is a list of trees here that I would recommed from my own garden.

    Magnoilia 'Susan'

Magnolia 'Susan' is a deciduous shrub, resulting from a cross between M. liliiflora 'Nigra' and M. stellata 'Rosea'. Love this plant great green leaves and fantastic blooms, again good foliage colour to contrast with the more common greens.

Clematis Jackmanii is a great climber too
