    Hi:wink:,
Can anyone recommend some nice plants which will flower from seed in there first growing season? so I'm looking for some annuals and maybe a few fast flowering perennials? they should be relatively hardy although not terribly I would also be interested in a few fast growing foliage plant recommendations

    Thanks in advance!:thumb:

:thumb: You could also consider... Primroses,
    Diascia,
    Snapdragons,
    Ornamental cabbage (personal choice),
    Dianthus,
    Sweet Alyssum.
    And how about Ranunculus,
    Geraniums,
    Nemesia,
    Annual poppies,
    Sweet peas,
Calendula, and the daisy-like Argyranthemum (Marguerites). And don't forget Primroses and Cineraria..... Can't think of anymore at the moment...:)

Kalmia - all annuals will, of course, but there are also loads of perennials. If you get a Mr Fothergill or a Thompson and Morgan catalog they identify all the plants that do, and they also indicate hardiness.

Thanks kalmia - yes Cleome is nice and it was quite a good year for them this year as opposed to last year which was a disaster. I took Christopher Lloyd's advice and didn't sow them till 1st May. What he said was that they are tender and if you sow them too early and they get knocked back by the cold, they tend to sulk and never recove. This is what happened to me last year.
