I'm thinking of getting one of these

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7201981/Trail/searchtext>GREENHOUSE.htm

reason-I haven't the room for a full size or glass one and this can go on the patio next to the house. Do they work at all? I'd only want to use it for tender plants like a fuscia I have and raising seedlings early next Spring, rather than having them dotted all over the house! It would be in full sun, on the patio as I said

    Ta

Hi Aaron, This has been asked before, and I think its not strong enough for our winter weather, you will probably be better off making a cold frame..Maybe try looking in Greenhouse Gardening, you should find answers there ...Dee..

I've previously owned 2 of these and they are rubbish...in windy weather they can blow over even if supported and worst of all full of plants:mad: a couple of cold frames do a better job:thumb:

Thank you both. I found the previous thread and have had a look on ebay for cold frames, which aren't too expensive and would blend in on the patio a lot more than a plastic greenhouse would :thumb:

Hi sussex, I have a 4 tier cold frame and got it from Focus, all the major diy places that sell plants sell them and there alot cheaper than paying out for postage from ebay, garden centres sell them too :)

I have two of those Argos-style plastic greenhouses. I paid about 10 quid each for mind, not £40 ....

... I use them inside my (cold) conservatory in the spring to start seedlings off. I put a 40W light bulb in the bottom to generate enough heat on frosty nights etc. and zip them up to keep the plants snug

The rest of the year they are used as shelves for things in pots (with the plastic taken off and stored)

I don't think I would trust one to the windy weather outside ;)
