    Hey all,

So I don't really have the best patio/hard surface to put a proper greenhouse in this year, its a bit uneven and I would rather do it next year. I have seen those £30 to £50 greenhouses in homebase that you can construct and walk in and made out of aluminium pipes and green plastic.
Are they any good? does anyone have one? My plan is to grow some tomatos and maybe give some melons a try.

    Thanks in advance.

Ive used 2 for about 4 years growing toms. The zip WILL break sooner rather than later, no big deal.
The green plastic doesnt allow enough sunlight through, but I can live with that too.
It needs to be secured or else its bye bye time. I just place paving stones over the metal tubes and secure the corners with plastic cheapy clamps so it doesnt move or rip its self aprt in a gale.
The best thing about them is once the toms are done you can put it away again unlike a greenhouse.
Like everything in my garden they were bought in a sale so I wouldnt be paying 40 quid for one.

Ive had one for 3/4 years now, I put 'new' broom handles (£1 each from a bargain shop) alongside every up right part of the frame and knocked them into the ground and then cabled tied them to the metal uprights. Its had one replacement cover in that time and needs a new one now but the whole thing cost me £24 when I got it so I really can't complain at all, its been through 3 winters and stood firm against a few spells of gale force winds :)

I have a stand up one with 4 shelves which was £10 from B&M. One of the zips has broken, and it blew over in a storm once but it was great value for protecting things early on and starting off dahlia tubers last year.
I now have it inside my greenhouse as extra staging.
Not sure about the walk in ones, if you're not planning on a permanent greenhouse that might be better for your needs.

I have a 4- shelf blowaway type, paid around a tenner 3 years ago. This year it has new plastic coat from Aldi as the zips gave away.

It is definitely worth the investment. This morning at 9 the temperature inside was 20 degrees :) The nighttime temperatures have stayed around 5-10 for the month, even though we have been hit by frosts otherwise.

During the summer I take the cover away and use it as vertical growing space. If needed, the plastic goes back on in autumn until my mini peppers etc are done. In the winter the top half goes away to leave me with waist high shelving.

It is a very good idea to fix it well. Big bags of compost stored on the lowest shelf help.
