I'm starting to get fed up with the whole anti shopping bag thing. When I go to the store I use the carrier bags quite happily because when I get them home they are stored in the cupboard and re- used for everything.

They line the bins in the kitchen and bathroom, are used to empty the cat litter trays and ashes from the fire, a bag sits in the kitchen whilst I am cooking and takes all the s****s up to the compost bin and a bag is always in the car for rubbish. Incidentally, I don't buy any bin liners of any type.

So in Marks & Sparks in Edinburgh recently I felt ready to smack the assistant who rolled her eyes when I chose to take the hangar that came with my trousers and asked for a second carrier bag as my friend and I had both purchased items but were going in different directions.

What is the point of taking your shopping home in a cardboard box that some stores provide if you are chucking in 2 types of plastic bin liners at the same time?

SNAP! i always re use carriers as bin liners but i did buy a tesco black bag and i get points for re using it :)

have you noticed the bags you get now are so weak they split so you need to actually double bag them? that doesnt make sense.
