    Pity that its all about who's backers have the deepest pockets now, rather than who gets the most supporters going through the gates, don't get me wrong I'm not knocking ManC and I think it will be a good thing to challenge the big four.

    It's a sad state of affairs when the deepest pocket can buy players from all over the world to represent an english club that's not sport, when I was a kid I used to watch the local team "earlestown rovers" all the lads were local within a couple of miles radius, wouldn't go near the modern game and as for the buying petrol and helpin support them not me directly Ste. don't need it on my bike.

    walnut - No its not really all about sport, its about international marketing and potential massive tv rights in the far east. We do however benefit from being able to watch the best players in the world over here. I'm not a proper supporter, I occaisonally go and watch pompey if time allows only because they are the closest club to get to.

    [grumpy old fart mode]
    For best players read biggest posing prima donnas;

    Most so called sports are now the biggest load of spherical genital objects ever.

    As for TV, mine hasn't been switched on since Joyce passed away.

    FOOTBALL...................MONEY....................... sorry state of affairs. I personally feel sport has gone out of football. I know thousands of people will disagree with me. I was always led to believe sport was for fun not profit. But there again I'm just a mere female.:wink: 02
