    Hi all,

PLEASE, please, please can someone help me. I have recently sewed some wild flower seeds in my garden which are now starting to appear. However one of the shoots which has appeared looks almost vine like and is now not only where the seeds were placed but appearing everywhere and I have no idea where it is from other than the seeds. Can anyone tell me exactly what this is as it is starting to appear all over my garden!!!! Please see attachment

    Thanks so much

    Miss FC x

Hi miss Farmer & welcome to GC.. It looks like Bindweed to me.. A true garden pest & I would get the weedkiller out, but be specific where you put it..

As a glyophosate weedkiller is neutralised on contact with the soil and providing your recently sown seeds have not germinated I would apply the weedkiller now, providing leaves are dry and no heavy rain due.

Well, not exactly now as its 10 at night!!!

If you have got the bindweed growing everwhere, it seems to me that you had the site rotovated before sowing and this chopped up all the bindweed roots and it regrows from every bit of root. If this is the case then it will continue to shoot up from the bits further below the surface and you efforts will be wasted.

your option will be to buy more wildfloer seeds and sow in compost in trays and pots or elsewhere in the garden. While these grow continue hitting the bindweed as it grows with weedkiller but it will probably take 2 months , if not more, to clear it out (especially if its rampant in your neighbours gardens.

then when its all gone, transplant you wildflowers to their new home.

    good luck

 Well it doesn't have to be poor other flowers.. Get some Round Up.. tip some into a large jar or an old bucket & mix wallpaper paste with it..When you know it will be dry for a few hrs & it is nice & thick, put on some rubber gloves with old socks over the top.. Then get the weed killer mix on the socks & stroke it up the bind weed making sure the leaves get a good dose & leave.. Just be very careful not to touch your other plants & you will be fine... :thumb:
