I have never been successful in keeping these alive before, but I was given this two stemmed orchid in Dec 23 and it’s been fab! I’m amazed that I had two new flower spikes in the summer, and during the autumn two buds with leaves (like baby plants) appeared. In the last fortnight another bud has sprouted which I think is a flowering one. However, I think I’ve killed it as when we arrived home yesterday I found that the leaves are going soggy. Maybe the windowsill got a bit cold, or I’ve over watered it.
Any ideas as to what I should do to try to save it and/or to try to keep the baby plants going? Thank you!

      Hi,

Those little baby plants are called a Keiki (Hawaiian for "baby") and once they have grown some typical roots then they can be detatched and potted up.

Suspect the leaf problem may be down to cold and or rot / watering, though if you have kept it growing for over a year, that would suggest you had got its care about right .

Whats the typical day and night time temperatures, could it get really cold ?
Equally on a south window cill it can get very hot on the odd sunny winters day.

Also cannot see any roots on the surface, so hard to say if the roots are rotting away ?
Could it be sitting in a pool of water in the glass vase ?

They say even if all the leaves drop off, it might be recoverable given the right care and attention.
