    Hi
Can you tell me what this is? I am now living in the house that my parents used to live in and there was a large pot - much unloved for years that this has just popped up in. It looks too special to be a weed but if it is I will keep it ~:-)
    Thanks

Hi and welcome to GC! :)

Sadly, I cannot help you, as I am a complete novice too - however, rest assured that there are some really clever people on here, and I certain that one of them will be able to help you very soon. Be warned though, this is a very friendly and addictive forum! :)

Thank you. And I am glad to be here! I am well not a novice gardener but certainly a learning one! I would love to know what this plant is. I have been searching for hours and have come up with a few ideas but no clear answer! And also why are my caulis just leaves leaves leaves?

Nope, no idea either. Ask Silver Surfer.
Lovely, isn't it? You gotta keep it!
The flower buds remind me a bit of fuschias.

That is so beautiful. I would guess, if someone thinks that well of a plant to put it in a pot it has to be special.
Just clean it up and talk to it.

Hello and welcome Cara. I too have no idea what it is (but that's not unusual for me), but I agree, it is very pretty. Definitely worth keeping. I do hope someone knows what it is, because it would be good for you to know what it is so you can know what it likes.

Hi Cara , welcome to garden corner , please a curiosity where do you live?
If you live in England and has been left outdoor it must be a frost hardy flower , for sure such of a nice flower wouldn`t never pass unnoticed , unless it`s a tropical .

How long has it been in the pot and do you have a photo of the whole plant (with some sense of scale would be good)?

Well, to be fair the pot has just sat there with weeds in for rather a long time.. my parents are not around any more and its taken me a while to grab their passion for gardening. This is the first time this plant has come up in the pot. As for scale well its growing every day. but here are a few more pics.
