We have this growing in our backyard and it looks quite nice in the summer with all its flowers. Is it a vine or a tree?
Unfortunately it is in the wrong place and we need to move it but it is an old well established vine or tree. Can a cutting be taken from it to start it growing elsewhere as then we can destroy the current root?
    Thanks in advance.

Seems that we have the Escallonia rubra macrantha variety and as you say it is shrub. Do you perhaps know if a cutting cna be taken from it to grow a new shrub? Thanks.

Surfer, it MAY be Escallonia rubra macrantha.
However, the reason I did not attempt to id it completely, is that there are several deep red ones. It is impossible to say which one it is from a a pic.
This is Escallonia Red Elf. there are others!
