    It's not a great picture 'coz the flower isn't open but perhaps someone will recognise it. It opens and follows the sun when it's shining but as you can see, looks straggly when its raining.
    It's flowered all summer
    Any ideas would be much appreciated
    thanks

    Hi, Billy B and welcome to GC.

    It's a Gazania and they love the sun but I can't keep one alive here for love nor money. :D

    Thanks for the ident.
    I must be lucky - I have good soil, well drained and south facing. Reading the blurb is a bit confusing - some say annuals, some half hardy ps so will see what happens if I divide them. They are lovely when in full bloom

    Billy B, I think its best if you dont divide it now.
    If you want to keep it through the winter you need to lift it and pot it up and put it in a frost free place.
    I doubt it will survive the winter outside.
    Most people grow or buy new ones each year. [IMG]

    hi there Billy B, I grew gazanias from seed 2 summers ago and they came on famously, then I got another show of them this year, they just appeared! I never lifted them from their pots or divided them or anything, so if it worked for me?.........

    Lol, heat loving and drought resistant and you can't keep them alive?
    I have two three years old outside but I did lose nine, they can survive outside depending where you live. The south west has less frost than most of the UK so therefore they stand more chance of surviving the winter. I am sure they take fairly cold nights in their native South Africa.

    Pete & all Thanks for tips. I have several so I'll experiment by lifting some and leaving the others.
    Now for the top dressing :{
