Hi there, I want to plant a plum tree, just one, and I’d like some help choosing variety. This would be my ideal:

    1. Resistant to moth infestation and other nasties.
    2. Tasty fruit for eating, not cooking.
    3. Reliable crops every year.

It’s going in a place which is sheltered from wind, neutral soil in London. As I say, I have room for only one. It can be large, but not so large that I can’t reach the fruits!

    Thanks for your ideas.

For the best flavour, opt for a greengage. Denniston's Superb (aka Imperial Gage) is self fertile. I'm not sure that any variety is especially resistant to pests. To prevent moth problems, hang a pheromone trap in the tree in early spring. This site might be of some help.....Dessert - Self fertile Plum Trees - Chris Bowers
    Can't recommend the nursery, though.
