I keep getting these messages when I open Gc.
It means nothing to me as I just cancel them and it still works OK, just wondering what its all about.

"Was unable to load plug in"?
Then I get a message saying, Shockwave has crashed.

Dont have a clue what a plugin is and likewise Shockwave.

I think that Shockwave is one of the Adobe products. I only have their Acrobat Reader (people send me documents in Acrobat mode) but refuse any other Adobe product.

Shockwave is a program that allows you to view videos and play games; a plug-in is a program that runs within your browser, so if you are using Firefox for example, to watch a video or play a game on some websites you would need to have the Shockwave program installed into Firefox (plugged into Firefox).

You can test your Shockwave plug in here:

Sounds like your installation is OK then - I am not all that up on Chrome, so can't really offer much advice as to why it would be crashing. All I can suggest, is to try re-installing it.

That suggests that it is an advert that is trying to run Shockwave, and the fact that you have no problems elsewhere coupled with the fact that it tested OK on Adobe's site would suggest to me that your install is OK, and it is something wrong with whichever advert it is that is triggering the problem

Possibly one of the malicious ads that plague me and a few others.

YouTube doesn't need it. Most stuff doesn't anymore. It's being squeezed out by html5 which all latest browsers support and that handles video without a plug in. It probably crashes in chrome because Google were one of the first to announce their intention to withdraw support for flash on the grounds that it is the cyber equivalent of an unlocked front door with neon signs over it saying 'please hack me', but alas they were met with a backlash from millions of people who threatened to boycott Google if they blocked it.
