I've never bought plug plants before but this year because I expect to be away a fair bit during seed raising time I doubt I'll be doing anything from seed this year. I'm thinking for some things I may have to go for plant plugs bought online (I live in the sticks and finding certain varieties is impossible locally).

While I figure flower plugs may be fairly straightforward, I'm wondering if things like Kale and Tomatoes are a bit tricky? Would they be worthwhile having a go at veg from plugs? In general, are plugs generally best put straight in the ground (assuming frost is not expected) or potted on a bit to bulk them up before going outdoors?

    Any tips appreciated.

Really depends on the state they're in when they arrive GG.

Don't see why veg would be more problematic than flowers other than if they've been overly stressed in which case some might bolt?

I'd give it a go just to find out one way or the other :)

I'd be inclined to pot them up and grow them on GG as they're liable to be quite small and vunerable:thumbsup:

Thanks both. Quite reluctant to go the plug route but will be my only option so at least I can test the waters.
@Lolimac you're probably right about the potting on.
