    Hi,

We have inherited some plum trees with our new house. Some of the plums have what looks like a fungus. Anyone know what it is or how I get rid of it?

    Welcome to Gardeners Corner :sign0016:

It's wild yeast, usually only grows on ones that are over ripe :)

I've got the same problem Jamie, brown rot, usually caused by the fruits being 'injured' either by birds of the coddling moth,as far as I know there is no cure but to remove all the infected fruit off the trees if you can and discard those and fallen ones to eliminate the spread. You can use coddling Moth traps but they need to be in place in the spring, something I keep meaning to do but haven't:doh::dbgrtmb:

Welcome to GC by the way:thumbsup:

I've had this same problem this year, perhaps worse because my tree is heavily laden with fruit??

Either way it appeared on some fruit long before they were ripe, I removed all that I could reach and disposed of them which did the trick but as the fruits are now ripening its back with a vengeance :frown:
