Plumeria

My Plumeria rooting arrived today in a sturdy tube from Malta ( along with three cuttings of Portulacaria afra. The roots of the Plumeria look healthy but my question is this ... do I do anything to the not-so-nice looking top? I plan on potting it this afternoon.

The top looks ok to me.
I'd just plant in some slightly gritty compost and wait.

 

Thanks Pete. How are your seedlings doing? Mine two are only a couple of inches tall.

 

All seedlings and the cuttings have come through the winter ok, new growth is slow to start due to the lack of sunshine.
But they are starting to move now.

 

I am impressed!

 

Potted it up and stuck the three Portulacaria afras around it to root ... and fill out the space ...


Put it in The Courtyard where it will get full sun ...

 

The two cuttings I bought last year, dont think I've done anything different with these two but they look very different.

 

They're strange plants, aren't they? My 'tree' lost all it's leaves last winter, as did the two cuttings. They're just beginning to sprout new ones now. The winter before, in exactly the same quarters, they sailed through with all their foliage

 

Did you dry them out more than the year before.

 

I don't think so, I always go very easy on the watering while temps are low. The only difference that I can think of is that the cold arrived a lot earlier last year What minimum temperature are yours kept at, @pete?

 

Because mine are only small I kept them in the house.
Window cills and conservatory, so 10c min. I would think but rising during the day. They kept their leaves but stopped growing.
I never managed to get them through the winter in my frost free green house in the past even if bone dry the humidity just used to rot them.

 

The two I did from seed lost their few leaves but are coming back.

Even better, I assume this rooted as here are its leaves ...


Looks like the Portulacaria afras have rooted as well.

 

Just an update on my cuttings and seedlings I grew towards the end of last year.
The two cuttings I bought on Ebay first, I nearly killed one by having it too close to the greenhouse roof during our brief hot spell in June, but its making a come back now, its the one on the left.

The seedlings have pretty much caught up the two cuttings, but all are leaning due to being on the window sill last winter, I'm trying to re orientate them but they are not keen.

 

You're being too gentle, pete My twiglets were leaning too, but a thin cane (as used for orchids) stuck in the pot does the trick. They don't even need tying in.
