I have been working as a sub-contractor at a massive money no object type of Large Barn in Yeovil for a few weeks now,After enquiring about the customer i,ve been told its for the Plymouth Brethren...........I,ve never heard of this God squad[No offence] AND IT ALL SEEMS cloke and daggers. I,ve tryed googling it and to be honest get no information.

Since working there have met quite a few members who are in my opinion are very nice people. I,ve been invited later this year to the grand opening but am unsure what to expect.

Can any body shed some light on this?????

This is second hand information from what ive been told but basicly its a christian religiouse sect.

I dont want to go into specifics of what I was told as im not sure of the truth but whilst it wouldnt bother me working for them I certainly wouldnt attend the function.

Not sure but I think they're along the lines of the Jehovah's Witnesses. It's easier being an Atheist! Richard Dawkin rules, O.K.:D

:thumb: Hi Slinky, we once had some neighbours who are members of the Brethren. They are religious yes, but were also really fun people.. As long as you respected their beleifs they had no problem, as were others that we met.. Here is a link to their web site it should help to explain somethings for you..:thumb:

Slinky, ok mate. I'm not going to look at any links although everyone says they are 'normal' happy people, so each to their own i suppose. Why did someone say 'don't go to the opening'? Not being funny or anything, you should all know by now if I ask I want to know! But then I am gullible, sp? (word doesn't exist according to some).

Enjoy your work and nice people to work for, after all you don't have live with them.

    cheer

There is also a subset of the Plymouth Bretheren called the Exclusive Bretheren. They are pretty weird. We had one at work a long time ago. They are not allowed to eat or stay with anyone who is not of the same sect. When this chap went on a business trip, either in this country or abroad, he was not allowed to stay in a hotel, but had a little book with the names of all the sect members in Europe and had to stay with one of them irrespective of how far away they were from the meeting.

Like Pro Gard I would be very wary of them - though just attending a function would probably be harmless. Religeous sects with very firmly entrenched and inflexable views are, in my view, not rational. And irrational people scare me.

I disstrust anyone who is very religious whatever it maybe.

Its an old joke, but, whats the difference between a Jehovahs witness and a Lada.

Ans..... You can shut the door on a Jehovas witness.

Sorry but I just find religous sects a bit odd, but they can do as they like,.. just dont try to involve me.
