Gardeners World mag has an article about making a mini-pond in a pot. Has anyone tried this?
I quite fancy this idea, but it's an expensive mistake to make if it goes wrong!!! ;)

Ooh yeah, that's the kind of thing!! [IMG] [IMG] Think I'd like a bigger one though as I want to see some water and have a miniature water lily....will start looking around for the right container...at least now I know that it's possible!! [IMG]
    Thanks Mef [IMG]

With a bit of thought, and careful planning you can make a pond (small) or water feature from almost anything

I had a pond in a pot for a few years before going on to a bigger pond.Iused a very large frost proof pot the glazed sort you often see on patios.I had three goldfish in there as well as a small water lily.Water would turn green in warm weather cos didnt have pump or filter in those days but fish were happy and survived a few harsh winters in there. So I would say have a go! Thanks guys...I think I've found a suitable pot to start off with, it just needs a few modifications and a mini water lily...maybe a tall grassy thing for the back...and then I'm away!!!! [IMG] [IMG] :D

I have a large barrel pond- I'm just in the process of emptying it and relining as there was a leak - yuk, nasty smell, but I can't fall in as my sister did when cleaning her large one! I found numerous frogs and a couple of goldfish lurking. It holds about 40 gallons and I have found it quite effective.
I'm taking the opportunity to put in a filter and pump.

This was mine last year - am about to empty and refill it! Im afraid I dont encourage frogs cos I have a prob with them :( but it works quite well! Have to buy a new pump for it this year though. I bought the large pot very cheaply and varnished it inside and out, drilled a hole for the cable and hey presto [IMG]
BTW MEF750, I love that site, could cost me a bit, that link!! ;)
