We moved last year and inherited some old apple and pear trees in the garden. Last year we had a bumper crop but this year most of the trees only have a few fruit and some appear to have none. Our neighbours trees have a good amount of fruit. What could be the reason for our poor crop? Many thanks.

    Welcome to Gardeners Corner :sign0016:

Could have been the weather in the spring, but could also be that they've gone into a biennial fruiting pattern as they didn't get pruned :)

In an earlier post, @Jenny namaste I think it was, said all the pollinators were about at the wrong time for the blossom

Despite all the forecasts predicting bumper apple crops this year, every single tree in every single village around this way has had a totally useless crop this year.

An old tree which we inherited. Gave it a small trim last year, this year it has to done quite
a bit more. A lot of branches crossed over etc.
