    Hes trying so hard!

And hes my first plant so i have a soft spot for him!

I found him looking pathetic on a 'reduced shelf' in a local store the other day and the maternal pet keeper in me wanted to revive it and look after it!

So nabbed some cheap compost and a shiny pretty pot for him and now hes sitting outside my front door.
What can i do to help him along? Are there any products i should be adding to the pot or water?

Spot the newbie a mile away! Cant even deal with a geranium!

Hi, Whiley, and welcome to GC! Not knowing how poorly your Geranium is it's hard to say what to do with it! [IMG] First thing I always do when I buy a poorly looking plant is remove any dead or dying leaves and flowers ... tidy it up. If it is straggly, then you could cut it back a bit to encourage new growth. If the soil looks okay, then there's no need to repot straight away, but if the plant is a bit "tight" in the pot, then you need to get a bigger pot and some compost (I just buy the cheapest!) and pot the plant on. Water it well and let it dry out somewhat between waterings and keep your fingers crossed! :D

In which case i think i've done everything ok!

Being a petsy person, i think i have an odd nature of care for things, and i keep going out to check on it and look at it. Becoming strangely attached to him!

There are some marks on the leaves that make it look a little, will grab some batteries today and take some pictures, hopefully someone can tell me what the marks are.

Be careful that you don't overwater your new friend - and that your shiny pot has a drainage hole. Pelagonium's like to be quite dry - but don't mind a feed now and then - as the nutrients in compost only last about 6 weesk.

Our geraniums flower for months and months with not too much watering, and some geranium liquid feed (diluted) every 15 days .....they are one of the few potted plants that have survived our scorching temperatures here of late ! Good luck ! M-L

Any high potassium general feed will do, watered on about as LofL says about once a fortnight. Not too much though :D

Go Geri Go!! It's amazing how good it makes you feel isn't it? I'm waiting soooo patiently for my first ever Lily flowers. I'm out there every day, morning and night; and every day the buds get fatter and fatter and still no flowers :( Was sure it was gonna be today, the buds are HUGE!!!

Its fantastic! Seconding the fantastic feeling, is that i just spoke to my landlord who said i can start visiting the garden of my new flat and letting myself in the back way to start tidying!
    Let the obsession take over!

Photos of progress will be a must!

OOh yeh! Photos would be good! Still saving enough for a digi camera so I can take some of my humble efforts. Unfortunately I'm developing an addiction to Travis Perkins, which is taking all my spare cash. It's the same old story, got in with the crowd. First, tried trellis, then progressed onto fencing and posts and before I knew it I'm on the hard stuff - gravel and edgings :D :D
