May I ask what makes you think it has lost all its goodness?

If it needs improving then it depends on what sort of soil you've got and what sort of plants you want but it would help people to understand if you could say why you think it's poor :)

a good quality compost (such as John Innes number 3), mixed with well rotted organic farmyard manure ... (70 percent John Innes and 30% organic manure) .... you can buy 3 bags of well rotted organic farmyard manure for approx £12.50 from most garden centres

and if you want to take it a step further, get some volcanic rock dust for adding minerals ... (B&Q sell Verve volcanic rock dust for £5.98 per 10kg bag)

and if you want the best of the best .... buy some worm humis (vermicastings/worm poo compost)

£10 gets you a 10kg bag from your nearest hydroponics store .... very rich and the best compost, so you can use it sparingly, but mix it with the John Innes and manure aswell (if you have a large area to sort)
