    Hi guys and girls,

I have 2 small bay trees in large planters on my front step, south facing and slightly sheltered from the winds.

The leaves are turning yellowish, patchy, and a bit more brittle. ..

Is this a nitrogen deficiency or something more sinister?

    Many thanks...

Thanks for the info ... maybe the cold snap we've had recently might have had something to do with it as the planters are very free draining ... thanks once again.

I did notice all the bay trees are wraped in fleece at the NT place we visited yesterday.

Fungus would be my guess, especially after all the cold, wet weather we've had.. none of the bays around here look like that though, I'm not sure, but the cold and wet often does have some effect. Whatever it's doing it looks like it's having a serious detrimental effect on the cells of the plant.

Looks like frost bite to me. Bay trees are tough buggers so shouldn't worry.

My bay tree looked shocking after that cold winter 2 years ago but it came back well with a bit of TLC. It hasn't been affected too badly this year.
