In the last week my thriving pot herbs seem to have become poorly. The mint, rosemary, thyme are all still looking healthy but the sage, parsley, oregano and basil look rather sad. I haven't changed my care of them at all and they are still in the spot that they have always been- sheltered court yard by the back door. Any suggestions?

Sorry I can't help much, Sterile.
Most herbs like it warm and dry - with the exception of mint which will put up with anything.
You don't say where you are, or how long "always" has been.
The only one I can help with is Basil.
It has never done well outdoors for me. I grow it on the windowcill - always - and water it from the bottom. It hates having its leaves wet, they just go all brown and mushy.
Maybe the herb experts will be along.

Thank you, I can see my mistake with the basil as I have one indoors and one out - indoors watered from a saucer and oudoors with a can- needless to say which one still looks alive! :dh:

It is possibly just the unseasonably cold weather that has made them sad although surely sage and parsley are winter herbs?

Could it be lack of water?

Were they grown from seed or did you get them as young plants?

Sage and Oregano should be able to put up with a lot. I agree about the Basil, much happier indoors (and more convenient for when you need that odd leaf or two for cooking).

I have had most of my herbs around 5 years and this year i have had to replace some that have died off.
Others i have taken away as much of the old compost i can and replaced with fresh, and i can honestly say my sage has never looked so well. :gnthb:
