    Hi
Back again with another problem! I have a 2 1/2 year old plum tree which I planted as a 1 year old sapling. 1st year all seemed well, however, over the last coupe of months most of the leaves have turned brown and the tree appears to be past redemption. I should say the tree was planted along with 3 Apple's and a Pear which are all doing rather well.
    Talk about confused.com!

I wonder if the ground where the tree is, may have become waterlogged over time, or there is something else going on at root level.

Fonzie: The tree is approx 5 yards from another fruit tree that has no problems and water logging isn't really a problem, thanks for your input, I'll wait and see what happens in the spring.

Interesting article in the Torygraph Gardening section today - trees seem to be getting sick more easily now because of all the fluctuations in the climate. Maybe that.

Plums do get sick, but without more info it is hard to diagnose. Brown as in autumn? or brown diseased? What colour were they before? Orange spots? (in which case it is rust)

Is there any bark damage? Have a look at ground level - mice and voles like chewing the bark on relatively young trees and may have ringed it.

hedgeman: thanks for your interest. No marks at bottom of tree, but leaves are dark brown, curled up and very brittle. Didn't notice any spots before, but have to say it looks fairly terminal.
