Poppies? But I didn't plant any!

    I've got some in my window box. They look lovely, all different colours (I'm pretty sure they're poppies), but I didn't plant any, so how could they be there? It's a concrete street, there aren't any trees, gardens, or grassy patches (there are some big planters though). I have the only window box in my street. I'm confused...

    Poppies self seed freely. Seeds can also travel in bird droppings or get blown in the wind as the seeds are so small and light.

    For miles, apparently, they travel ( said like Yoda there lol), they can't be in flower yet surely, or even recognisable as poppies for this time of year.

    I think the leaves are very recognisable, but you're right Claire, they can't be blooming yet?

    I get mixed up between those and larkspur when they are wee babbies.

    They look more like anemones to me.

    Definitely a vauxhall astra....sorry, seriously though. Anemones, definitely not poppies.

    Ahhhh, cool. OK. Does the same apply to them as well? The seed drifting for miles?

    They grow from little corms,maybe someone popped them in to surprise you.
