Sorry, just been out watering plants.
Yes fc, it is nice here. Just a couple of miles away from East Lothian, which some may know as being an excellent area for arable farming...especially potatoes.
Before these houses were built (1930s), the land was farmland. My mum grew up here and tells me that the houses in our street ended at this one and beyond that was a cow field.
Maybe that explains why the soil here is so good. Not the typical clay soil very common to most of Midlothian but nice sandy loam with a bit of organic matter through it:hapfeet:. I did a soil test today and my sandy loam is ph neutral/slightly alkaline in the back garden.
I'll test the soil in the front garden tomorrow. The garden is a work in progress at the moment so nothing much in the way of plants. There's just my poppy, a clematis and a verbena bonariensis in the ground just now. Everything else is in pots for now. I've grown some perennials from seed for the first time. Your poppy would go nicely with my planned planting scheme .

I'd go with what "M" suggests. Secure a paper bag over a couple of the seed pods but leave them on the plant to ripen.

@Loki, what colour are your poppies ?
