Are they any good or not? Saw a few in shops, but i am thinking they may not be strong enough for the winds and the winter? As we have no idea how to build a new greenhouse, thought we be better with a portable one?

If you are up in the hills Scorpio I'd think twice. If a greenhouse is portable it will be light and unless firmly anchored is likely to take to the hills itself. Quality as with many things depends on price and you generally get what you pay for and cheap ones could work out more expensive in the long run.
If you can assemble flat pack furniture you should manage to put a 'proper' greenhouse together. An alternative might be a small polytunnel. We are in a river valley but have experienced 80+ mph winds and our tunnel has lasted 5 years.

See this link, not the only suppliers, but it's where we bought ours. In essence its steel hoops covered with heavy duty polythene.
The farms around here are covered in acres of them growing soft fruit.
