I have problems with either cats or birds constantly messing up the bark on my borders, this a new problem. This a new problem since I laid down a lair of fresh Bark.

Hello Eduardo and welcome to the forum!

If it's cats there should be signs of their 'mess' as they could well be using your new bark area as a litter tray. :(

I did have the same problem but I now have two of those ultrasonic cat scarer I brought my off eBay and my first was so good I brought another one. It think they costed me about £16 each but well worth it for no more cat mess.

The cheap option works best for me : A couple of CD's ( free in papers etc ) tied with string to hang on nearby branches works very well.

    Cats hate the reflections !

I have had no cats in the garden in 2 years.

    Oh AndyK [IMG] [IMG]

Made me giggle that, reminds me of when my hubby had a football injury and i ran him a hot bath, i thought some menthol chrystals might help (as you do), well you know the saying 'less is more'? I did the opposite - the tub of crystals was so small i tipped the whole lot in and he jumped out the bath like a cat off a hot tin roof - red raw he was, i didnt know they burned [IMG]

I have had terrible problems with cats and Herons in my garden.
After trying loads of different things that didn't work I now have an animals scarer that shoots water when the beam is broken by the cats or anything else that gets in the way.
I take great pleasure seeing them get a soaking and fly over the fence. :D

    Hi Lyn :D

Have you tried Scardy Cat plants? If you google them or go to Thompson and Morgan site you can have a read up.

Can't help with the Herons i'm afraid tho sorry.

Coleus canina I think, my parents have some to try to keep cats away from a bird nest. Doesn't seem to work though.

They're now using plastic bottle filled with water, think the idea is the cats don't like walking over them. Personally preffered my suggestion, get a big dog! :D
