Wish id never given my postie a christmas tip.....itll be the last time. Received my National Trust 2012 pack yesterday, contained in a clear polythene envelope.Looked damaged,as was a 5 inch slit in the polythene, took out the main guide book and opened..........car park sticker missing.....thatll save some theiving postie/sorter a fair bit this year for his parking at Dunstable downs Grrrrr
Complain to the Post Office and the NT. They should send you a replacement. It might have happened to several people, maybe in the sorting office so it might not be your postman. Similar thing happened to us years ago, a sorting office employee had slit open my son's birthday cards and removed the cash. He was doing it for quite a long period (not just to us) and was eventually caught and jailed.
Sorry to hear that :(. Report it to the sorting office. They have some stringent controls at some of them and want to know when things like this happen. Unfortunately, it won't help you. You need to report it to the NT as well. Tell them that the plastic had been slit open otherwise they might charge you for a replacement.
If it was an 'accident' at the Sorting Office, the package should have been re-sealed with a bit of tape which clearly has the words 'Post Office' printed on it and says something like 'Damaged in transit' - post office speak for 'well, we've kinda looked for whatever might be missing, but no guarantees it's all here'. As others have said, report it to the sorting office at least that way you have on record you've made a complaint and, after you've done that, tell the NT - knowing them as I do, they're not above surmising you're just trying to get another parking ticket out of them. I've never sent money through the post, so whoever pocketed the birthday card I sent to my daughter when she was at Uni., that had a cake candle taped to the inside, was in for a nasty surprise :yess:
Have seen three 2012 books with parking tickets on ebay,(what a suprise)think no one in his right mind would spend £70 on NT membership, then flog the book for £16.
My postman is an idiot. Every time he delivers he has to open the gate but when he leaves he NEVER shuts it. He also doesn't like to wait for you if he has a package that won't fit. He rings the doorbell and if you don't shout AND run to the door hes off. The parcel guy is BRILLIANT he just puts the package right inside the back door or in the greenhouse.
Our postman is excellent. If we were out and he had a package it was always left in the care of Oscar in the greenhouse and he drew a little picture of Oscar on the card that was slipped through the door. :D If we have any mail that needs posting we just put it sticking out of the letterbox and he posts it for us. All his predecessors, for 40 years, have done the same (except for the Oscar bit ).
My postman has a habit of rapping on the door and then ringing the doorbell twice. When I confronted him, he said he couldn't here the doorbell ring (it's in my kitchen so I can here it in the back garden) which is why he rings it twice. I then pointed out I'm the one that's supposed to hear it not him. He still does it and if he doesn't get a quick response he walks round the bungalow peering through windows to see if I'm here. I've never liked him and this makes me mad, I should report him I suppose.
Our Postie is a valued service provider to us. My wife is registered blind and has difficulty in signing for things. Even though it is contra to "regulations" all our parcels that require a signature are signed for - even if we aren't there. He also finds people at home that will accept parcels for people not at home, where it won't go through the letter box. When he's on holiday the system goes to pot. 10:10 to the Postie
Our postie is really good too, only young but he keeps an eye out for everyone. When neighbours are away on holiday he knows (I think he reads the postcards!) and will knock on the door if something is amiss at another house in the road and help is needed (it's happened a few times with the oldies). Last week he brought around a parcel left at next door's (she was away), it had been left by a courier so nothing to do with the PO. He gets a good tip from us at Christmas and I should imagine most other folk in the village. (He also sends us all a Christmas card each just as a reminder )
Hi All last year I had ordered TM plug plants the postman gave them to next door and didnt leave me a note 3 days later a sheepish neighbour rang the bell and handed me a box of dried up baby plants "ooops forgot to tell you do you think they will be ok" NO was the answer and I take in loads of stuff for next door so I am not being orrid. T&M did replace them Spruce
Our postman Martin, is one of the nicest men I've met. He always has time for a chat - and has a treat for the dog. If we're out and he's got to deliver a package, he'll often come back later to check if we're home. I'm sorry that others have bad experiences. I wish there were more Martins to go round!
