This Rhohdodendron 'Golden Torch' was a gift given to us today. As we have never owned one before I wondered if keeping it in a pot would mean I could care for it better than planting it in the border, bearing in mind my soil is lime, and am I right in thinking rainwater is preferable to tap ?

If it's any help, Pal, we're on lime here too, and everybody who has rhodos, azaleas, camellias and suchlike grows 'em in pots in ericaceous compost. They're definitely calcifuge plants.

Don't know this variety, though. How big does it get? Could be a pain in the bum - not to mention the arms, back and several other places - when it comes to moving it or potting it on.... Can you get an Iron Fairy into your back garden???! :D

Congrats on the anniversary, by the way, from both of us! [IMG]

Hi, Pal, congratulations from us as well.

Would like to see a picture of this opened, I think it will be a real stunner.

Here is a good link I keep in my favourites which may be of interest to you if you're a first timer with such.
