    Hello all,

Due to the lousy weather last year we lost 200 or so main crop spuds and about 30 Tomato plants in the space of a week to potato blight.

My question to you learned people is, do I have to make any precautions to try and stop it this year? is it likley to be carried over, the infected foliage was not composted. If there is a risk of it returning what is the best treatment?

    Thanks for your time,
    Tony.

Hi Tony and welcome. About the best thing to use against potato blight is Bourdeaux mixture. you should be able to get it from your local garden centre.:thumb:

    Hi Toni

Make sure you do not allow any volunteers - i.e. potato plants which grow on the old potato patch which were too small to harvest - or plants on the compost heap. Get rid of them all, so that you can concentrate on keeping those you planted this year healthy.

    hth!
