It looks like some of my tatties have blight, can I still eat the tatties. I know I have to burn the top growth.

    Any help gratefully appreciated.

Hi badsal, potato blight is caused by blight spores from the leaves reaching the tubers.the first signs are brown patches on the leaves.look on the underside of the leaflets, each blight spot has a white mould fringe in damp weather.there is no treatment once the disease has firmly taken hold but if seen early you can slow it down by spraying with Mancozeb at fortnightly intervals.cut off and destroy affected leaves 10 days before lifting.Affected potatoes rot in store.

Thankfully it has not affected both beds of tatties so I will hopefully be able to store the other bed.

    many thanks
