    Hi,
Can you chitt seed potatoes for too long? Have been waiting for weather to show last signs of frost and they have been chitting for 8 weeks. Location in the extreme north of Scotland so the weather takes longer to cooperate up here.
    Any help appreciated
    Thanks
    Kevin

Hi @Kf1313 and Welcome to GC.. I am not 100% sure as don’t live in Scotland but I would have thought you would be ok to plant now.. Line the bottom of your trench with well rotted manure or compost as spuds are greedy and thirsty.. Do your chits look like these.? If so perfect for planting now..

You don't need to delay planting until frosts have passed as the sprouts will be below ground for a while, and when they show through draw some soil over them for protection.

You can chit for too long, examples I can think of at the moment are delaying planting for so long that the tubers go soft and shrivelled, or the sprouts grow long and spindly.
