    Hello,

I have started this year to compost, but seem to remember someone told me not to put the roots of my potato plants in the compost is this true or can you throw the lot in.

Best not to put anything diseased into the compost heap. Might that have been the reason?

There should be no problem if your potato plants were Blight free, as said.
