    Hi All,
I have planted potatoes on bags this year and after 2 weeks or so I filled the bag with a mixture of MPC and rotted manure. This was on Wednesday, I have just had a look and the foliage is already about 2 inches above the level. I put about 4 inches on top of the foliage, which would mean about 6 inches growth in 5 days. Have I earthed them up correctly and should I continue to do it like this?

The way I do it is. Put the set potato on top of 6 inches compost, cover it over with 2 or 3 inches and let it grow. After it has made it well above the bucket I fill the bucket up to the top with compost.

keep a eye out for frost, but you must let the leaves develop more then cover and just leave the tips showing , then wait at least 7 to 10 days then cover again but leave the tips showing , carry on doing this until they are at the top , thats what I do
