Just gone to plant some more potatoes and chit others and I am greeted with this. See pic.

What now. Can I still plant? What a waste if I cant - they were £4.00.

    They are second early Nicola's.

    Aarrrghhhhhhh

No. Don't think so. They have sat in their bag in a window for a few weeks. Got them and another variety out to plant and got quite a shock.

I'd plant them and soon. Either be very careful not to break the long shoots and plant deep enough so the shoots are just below the surface. Or if you have a number of shoots coming remove the longest ones.

Brill. Once I finish my paperwork and housework I am garden bound and will make it my first job.

Hahaha they look like little aliens - quite cute.

Easy to say in hindsight but they really need lots of sunlight to stop those long sprouts, this is called 'chitting' just place them in say egg boxes with the 'eye' end pointing up - cool and sunny is what they need. Put them in a warm dark place and well you know now!

If you are gentle you should be able to get them planted as per Nigel's post.
