I can't help you as I don't grow spuds anymore but this is a chart of which form of cooking each potato is good for.

I pinched the chart from the internet and have had it stored on my computer. I hope it comes out like the original chart. It didn't - so I'm trying to edit it into some sort of sensible list.

The tables below should give you some help on what to grow for what purpose. I have not covered all the varieties available but I think I've got the main ones that are readily available from both garden centres and specialist suppliers. You may find one variety appears in two or more sections as some potatoes are more multi-purpose than others.

Shiney,I think there might be a couple of mistakes in your list, but are not your fault if you have copied it from the net.

Pink Fir Apple,Desiree and King Edward are all names in their own right.

I am not sure if you can get Desiree King Edward
or Pink Fir Apple Desiree unless I am not reading the list correctly.I am sure you will put me right if I have got it wrong but I don't want Golfer to ask for the wrong seed potatoes. [IMG]

Kandy, I tried to edit the list as the original was all in columns. It still shows as columns when I click on edit but doesn't come on here like that. So it is obviously sticking two separate columns as one item.

    I'll try again. Thanks [IMG]

Hello All, Just watched a TV cookery programme about the best potato for roasting and chipping!

Actually my wife was watching it, when it mentioned potatoes my ears pricked up, no end!

Any way, the best potato by far according to them was, "MARKIES" (never heard of it), second best was Maris Piper (cann't grow it as the slugs eat every one).

Checked on the net, T &M are sold out, £3.99 per 20, so will have to wait until next season, to try it

    Cheers
