I planted up 3 compost bags with 4 potatoes in each and they have been growing nicely thank you, :gnthb:

My point is i do not have a supply of materials to earth up, so i have been going along with potting compost, and i reckon there is at least a bag of compost in each of these sacks, even 3 for £10 is still making this an expensive way to go,

What for future reference is best ,should i save all my used compost from my containers which have had, runner beans, tomatoes, courgettes, cucumbers and lettuce plus a few other bits and bobs,:thmb:

I normally keep this and recycle into my poor soil flower beds should i keep it for the spuds :cnfs:

You need to be careful to not reuse compost from the same type of plants. So don't reuse Tomato compost for Potatoes. Same strategy as for crop rotation will do fine.

Yes its £10 for 3 bags (I got 4 x 75L bags for £12 at Wyevale using my "Club" card - don't know if that offer is indefinite and you can get a card there & then) but utltimately:

"I normally keep this and recycle into my poor soil flower beds"

so you are just buying the compost a year early, and getting a crop of spuds from it, before it goes to your flower beds :thumb:

I mix come of my Tomato and Potato bag compost with about 1/3rd sharp sand and use that in contains for carrots.
