I have just had my son dig me a square plot , am I too late to put potatoes in it? I'm 100ft up in the hills in Scotland and our growing season is short.

You should still have time for a small crop as long as you don't lose them to freak frosts.

Only problem you might have is finding any seed to plant, there aren't any left down here in the garden centres. I have heard of people planting pots bought from the supermarket, I've never tried this myself, I guess don't use this years 'new' pots. Perhaps others have real experience of doing this?

I planted a few spuds from the Supermarket last year at about now. Limited success - I think mainly because they had missed the nice, rainy growing conditions in Spring (and also I had not prepared the ground very well). I got a small harvest from them, but very tasty - as are most things that you grow yourself. Essentially: definitely worth a go, but don't expect too much and be grateful for what you get!
