I keep dead heading mine and some have gone past but most really are lush and blooming.

I have put some of my fuchsias back in greenhouse as they dont lke getting their feet too wet.

I do agree it can be heart breaking for you.

You still have Autumn or Christmas baskets you can make.

Hiya Cattwoman I agree with Scotkat don't give up.
I think most of us have been dishearten this summer because of the rotten weather :( and all the damage it has do to so many gardens and homes.

But I'm sure your little greenhouse will lift your spirits :D no end no matter what the weather is like or how your plants are growing.

I'm sure you're gonna have a wonderful time next year sowing your seeds in your new little greenhouse.
I bet your hubbie will love all the compliments you both will be sure to get from your neighbours and passers by for having a wonderful plot!

Oh Catwoman, I share your woes.

I am an incredibly enthusiastic new gardener and in perparation for our garden project this year I painstakingly grew tons of bedding plants from seeds. I have spent hours early summer in the garden planting them in the borders and I have four baskets and at least 20 pots. I thought my garden would look like something from a fairy tale with cascading petunias, lobelias etc everywhere. I try my best and deadhead them every night, whilst there are still lots of flowers, some of them should be much further on by now and lots of my lobelias and fushias have barely started! I cannot tell you the hard work I have put into my new garden this year, and we have sat out in it twice! (once with our coats on!)

Oh well, I try not to complain and think ourselves lucky when you hear how the weather is impacting on so many people - we are lucky really.

    hi elliegreenwellie

you sound very much like myself all the hours spent but eh ! we all got next yr

we managed to sit out once and you won't belive it but it was rainning :D very fine but it was humid and my parasol is water proof for about 2 hrs when its fine rain so there we were looking like fruit cakes ...........

the funny thing was about half eleven (parasol starting leaking ) i decided have a quick ciggy before hitting the sheets and to my complete shock there was a snail sat on my packet large as life having a good look around

I've worked hard to keep mine going. They've been hiding away in the lean-to. Usually I rotate them between front and back to control how much sun they get (especially the fuschias), all that's changed is rotating them inside/ outside. I had to shelter the Bougainvillea to save the delicate flowers and the roses to save the buds. Couldn't do the same with the Oleander as it's too far down the garden and the pot and plant are too big. The water-logging doesn't seem to have hurt it any, but the lack of sun has meant no flowers yet when it should have been out two weeks ago.

My gypsophilia seedlings were hardening off, I had a quick look this morning and it looks like I've lost them.

    Hi there all,

My pots and hanging bags are doing well, fortunately they survived the windy then hot weather despite my attemps to "care for them" :D

My Cordyline took a bashing but is now doing well. Patio Roses a bit dissapointing but Mexican sunflowers are dismal, Massive leaves but the flowers are almost an embarrassement :(

Love in a mist are going great guns too.

So hey guys i'm learning (but oh so slowly) [IMG]

    Regards from Hertfordshire

By the way, anyone want some pink pampas grass? I ordered loads not bothering to research it's growth habit [IMG]

Sweetpeas lovely and tall but hardly any flowers, no flowers on the nasturtiums, honeysuckle flowers only last a day or two in the rain, petunias hammered back into the soil with mushy flowers, tomatoes not flowering and strawberries misshapen.

    Marigolds are beautiful!!! :D

    Cattwoman,

If only i had known of this forum earlier [IMG] my husband dismantled a perfectly good greenhouse during a job he was on and took it down the tip.

Ebay is pretty good isn't it? I got a gorgeous swing seat off of there recently but don't trust myself to look on there too often as it can be a bit adictive. Fortunately hubby has yet to notice some of my other "essential" purchases [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
