I had two old large lightweight woks from IKEA, very cheap stuff, very disappointing... I have a great cast iron one now for cooking.
But I am never fond of throwing stuff away... so I unscrewed the long handle of each:

I filed the rivets and took away the short handle:

passed a string through the various holes, drilled the bottom:

Planted them and hung in the porch:

I am a great fan of IKEA but these woks are a failure for cooking, lol. They do, however make, perfect hanging baskets :D

Thanks YDD. I was thinking that the price of these woks was so ridicoulous that one could as well adapt new ones for the purpose, but I am not sure if ikea still stocks them.

I would like to change the string with a thin chain, in the future, would look even better.

That wok looks really good :thumb:
I have a jumble of old saucepans and kettles that I shall have to have a think about.

Pity! Last year I had all my kitchen herbs in old pots and pans (that´s why the wok is already dirty in the first pics ;)) They made a funny display. Not elegant, but playful. Can´t take yourself serious all the time ;)
