    Hi Lisamel, and WELCOME!

Is your pot for indoor or outdoor use?

As a school project, someof our kids painted pots for sale. We just used what we had - basic poster tryp paint, mixed with PVA glue. Worked OK - they looked fab, and sold well, but the one I bought started 'leaking' pretty fast!

I suggest using gloss paint if it's the shiney glazed look you are after - it'll last longer if you prime the pots first - they are pretty porous. Or you could use yacht varnish after painting with a water based paint though it will stain paler colours yellowish, it'll last forever!
