I thought I was so smart to plant some leftover bulbs 2 weeks ago in small pots to take indoors in midwinter, mainly hyacints and Muscari. BUT it seems they feel pampered enough to sprout already!

Is there something I can do to delay them? I'm not sure which ones are coming up but the sprouts look a bit too big to be Muscari.

Am I doomed to lose my Christmas decorations? [IMG]

What they need is some 'arrested development'! Certainly with the hyacinths, I'd suggest you cover them with some black ploythene (I usually stand mine inside a black bin bag) and put them somewhere really cold to slow 'em down a bit. I've never grown grape hyacinths (muscari) in pots, so someone else will be able to advise you better on those, however the leaves of those I've got in the garden are already about 4" high - but then I've already got primroses and snowdrops in bloom too so I'm guessing Christmas really does come earlier each year!
