So many garden bargains in these pound shops! I've just come back from town and am the new owner of several new plants, bulbs and gizmos lol

Never did get the pair of shoes I went for...

Their gardening gloves look OK for those who haven't found them reduced to 25p/pair in Wilkos and have stocked up for the next 20 years or so.

Poundland's peat pots were a fraction of the cost everywhere else last year and the sturdy bamboo canes they had at the beginning of season were a bargain, but deteriorated to flimsy twigs by the end of the year.

Watch out for the vouchers in the national newspapers for £2 off a £12 spend that appear a few times a year.

I found some great really large heavy duty steel tyre levers that are ideal for wheelbarrows a couple of years ago, but haven't seen them in Poundland since then (but saw in 99p shops).

Their thin black plastic cellular trays that have circular inserts are good because the plants are so easy to pop out, unlike (Wilkos) hard plastic cell trays.

I've never tried a pound shop before for gardening, I've always thought they were a scam but if you guys are saying it's worth having a look then I think I'll give it a go.

No Global warming is a myth started by T&M so they could sell you plants that won't survive in our climate.

I did have some problems with some varieties,

                  Salad Rocket - Apollo 13.

Water Lilly - Herald of Free Enterprise.

                  Parsnip - Chernobyl.

The last one the roots forked all over the place, including upwards

I've bought loads of young shrubs from the 99p and £1 shops over the years. One of them even actually grew a bit after I planted it.
