I think Poundland could become one of my favorite garden sources. A couple of weeks ago I bought a specialist book on Delphiniums there. RRP - £25. Their price £1.

    Today I bought some bulbs.

25 Babiana Stricta for £1, compared with one site offering 10 for £5.60.

3 Ismene festalis or Spider Lily.

50 Gladiolus calllianthus or Peacock Orchid.

I presume these are all tender bulbs, and need to be overwintered frost free. If they weren't they would be in everyone's garden. Has anyone had experience of any of these three - and any tips?

3rd one I grew in a huge pot a few years ago lovely autumn flowering bulb with a nice sweet scent I managed to overwinter them in the pot for a couple of years quite happily although the winters were rather mild and they were in a small courtyard.

I did nothing particularly special to them just planted them ^^

You must be lucky then, the only ones we have seen in Poundland were tiny little dried up rubbish.

Palustris - that's not what I wanted to hear. :D

However you are probably right - they may well be dried up. But at £1 a time its worth a gamble. And although the book is dried up - it still makes a good read. :)

:) As long as the bulbs are not dried up and wrinkly, out of season bulbs from wherever should be ok, may come up late and weak .....probably not brilliant this year but next year -
