I think my cucumbers have a touch of powdery mildew (will get a photo of the leaves tomorrow), as there are some leaves that have what looks like a white dusting over the top of them; the plants are otherwise healthy and still romping away through the polytunnel, and are fruiting well.

If it is powdery mildew, are they done for?

Milk and water! Well, I never would have believed that! Thanks catztail :)

I'll pop out to the poly later with the camera and get a pic to be sure my diagnosis is correct.

You are welcome! This is the time of year for it. I've got several plants it has affected but I'm not bothered because they are nearly finished now.

I have used milk as a fungicide for black spot on my roses with success! Every so often I pour some at base on the earth then lightly water in.

Really? I have some of that in my garden and it would be really lovely to think it had *some* use ... other than to make my (gardening) life a PITA!

Yep, it's that time of year. Take off the infected leaves and use the milk spray.

By the time I took off the infected leaves, and found the infected stems behind them, I have arrived at the conclusion that enough is enough for them for this year - there are very few leaves left healthy, and to be fair we have had a good harvest from them this year, so I have harvested the remaining few fruit and will go and get shot of them after a cuppa.

Ah well, that was good while it lasted. Lesson learnt for next year too.

The more leaves I snipped off with the scissors, the worse and worse it got, and every single stem was also covered in the mildew, so they are now all gone.

On the bright side, its letting a lot more light into the peppers and the three tomato plants that I have in there, and makes life a hell of a lot easier when it comes to replacing the polytunnel over the next few days.
