I spotted this fella sat one evening on one of the terrace chairs at the hotel I was staying in whilst on holiday. He was still there the following morning and,as you can see,was quite happy to pose for pictures.

pip, that is a wonderful shot ... and it certainly was a poser! Lovely, I adore them here and get almost angry when Cal (not necessarily Boo) catches them so I have to go on retrieval duty ... 95% successful.

Look forward to seeing your other holiday pics. [IMG]

Great pic Pip, I love them, they are fascinating. I watched several of them for ages in my brother's garden in Crete last year, brown ones as well. I mentioned them on a thread about gardening nightmares recently. If only we had them here! [IMG]

Almost every day now, Cal is bringing into the house the most humongous locusts you've ever seen and we immediately retrieve them, some not with the success we would like.

Boo doesn't seem to bother with them ... at age 12 he lived for the first half of his life in England and didn't encounter these huge creatures so he looks and ...

Cal is Portuguese born and bred, albeit we got him a day old ... he loves catching anything moving to our horror. But, the best thing he likes, is crisps and chocolate when he comes in at night before bedtime (he will fight you over chocolate ...not me, t'other half) ... weird ...

Back to subject ... we have masses of all these sort of critters at the moment and we ALL love it ...
