I planted a privet hedge last autumn. They were 3ft bare rooted. and i planted about 15 inches apart. How long do you think it will take before they are forming a decent hedge?
    Any advice please.

Keep trimming the top when needed as this will encourage side growth, which will eventually join up with its neighbour and form a continuous wall of hedge.
I would say, about three years and they should have joined together.
As for height, I would cut the sides, once they have joined, and leave the top until height has been achieved.
